This lovely port offers an array of beaches to choose from. Many publications have deemed Cabo Frio to be home to Brazil’s best shores. Among them is Papagaios Island, a heavily forested island just off the coast. The pristine waters and beach here are only accessible by boat, adding to its mystique. Its rocky coastline is steep with its dominant features being the abundance of deep crevices, gorges and seaside caves. Papagaios is the Portuguese word for parrots, a reference to the colourful tropical birds that inhabit the island’s rainforest, which is a natural reserve.
