When I was growing up, I remember my father taking a couple of trips to Alaska with some of his good friends. Their experience was quite rustic, and they returned with some great stories, from close encounters with brown bears on Kodiak Island to reeling in halibut that would have been as large as I was at the time. So, when I had the opportunity to head to Alaska in 2018 with Regent Seven Seas Cruises, it was particularly special for me to bring him along for a different kind of experience in “The Last Frontier.”
While cruising aboard Seven Seas Mariner, we met some fascinating people, savored some unforgettable meals, and set out on a number of great excursions. And while my father and I have many great memories from that voyage, today I want to focus on the most thrilling one of them all: soaring above towering spruce trees and jagged mountains to witness, walk upon and even taste the mighty Mendenhall Glacier.
