Erik the Red, the Norse explorer known for discovering and colonizing Greenland, was so overwhelmed by this region’s lush, emerald-lawned valleys that he christened the country Greenland more than 1,000 years ago. Amidst the fjords, glaciers, islands and winding coastlines that make up South Greenland, Narsaq’s tranquil landscape of colorful houses is surrounded by sheep farms and fertile fields. Learn about Norse settlement history at Narsaq Museum, which also displays locally found rocks and minerals for which the region is known. Hike one of the two mountains that rise directly behind Narsaq — Tasiigaaq or Qaqqarsuaq — before rewarding yourself with a beer made from ancient iceberg water at a small Greenlandic brewhouse called Qajaq.

“ My daughters and I loved our cruise on Splendor in early August. We traveled from Stockholm to London. We loved all the restaurants and took a moment in Chartreuse to reminisce about our day, before enjoying our desserts. ” — Andrea S. | Seven Seas Society® Gold Member
