Gustavia, the bustling little capital, has about 200 stores on three major shopping streets, including the Quai de la République, which has earned the nickname, “rue du Couturier.” Signature designer boutiques like Cartier, Hermès, and YSL have elegant displays and o«er the perfect opportunities to pick up designer items or fashion forward couture not available in the U.S. Local artisans exhibit paintings and jewelry in galleries and exciting store fronts all over the island. Several understated, luxe stores o«er an array of boho-chic and whimsical home goods, bohemian jewelry and adorned leather bracelets. Some worthy local products include the intricately woven native latanier palm straw baskets, handbags and broad-brimmed hats, made by the women of Corossol and Colombier. A variety of lotions and oils that are locally produced from island plants are perfect for unique and interesting gifts, while a bottle of rhum vanille is great to bring home! The St. Barts map necklaces and bracelets make for a charming and sentimental purchase.

Le Select is a local staple, claiming to be the island’s oldest bar, having been around for seventy years, where delicious bargain eats and local culture can be experienced.
