St. Barts
Near Grand Saline Beach, for a more tropical setting, there is Le Tamarin that was built around a more than 100-year- old tamarind tree. Venturing along the coast there are some delightful eateries including the popular beach club, Nikki Beach, where it’s not unusual to spot a celebrity or three. The resorts are home to some of the finest restaurants on the island. The famous Eden Rock, with unsurpassed views, serves their signature Eden Colada, a cocktail that captures the flavor and essence of the island. Made with rum, champagne, pineapple juice and coconut sorbet, it honors the birthplace of rum while blending in the sophistication of St. Tropez. Watching a performance of the dramatic cocktails being mixed and served is like its own captivating show. The mysterious “cloud” that floats on top and bursts just as it’s served is pretty spectacular to see. The restaurant serves some fantastic dishes, the asparagus with lemon-infused droplets is simply amazing. Another indulgence is Le Toiny, where diners can treat their palates, while appreciating the magnificent scenery. (They o«er a truck to the beach bar and restaurant.) For sophisticated Italian cuisine, L’Isola in Gustavia is one of St. Barts’ most refined restaurants, where delicious dishes like bu«alo mozzarella with fresh passion fruit and fresh squid (a personal favorite of mine), are served and savored. Wherever your meanderings take you on this small, boutique island, it is fun to just be a part of this charming and fascinating lifestyle. Whether taking a stroll along Mega Yacht Row, enjoying a drink or snack at a local cafe, or shopping for the perfect gift along the Quai de la République, St. Barts o«ers an A-list experience all its own!
