WHAT SETS YOUR PAINKILLERS APART AT THE SOGGY DOLLAR?

Miller: We’re the original! The home of the Painkiller. They’re mixed up at bars all over the BVI, but it’s only right you try one here first, and then try the others — you can be the judge of your favorite. People come to me here every day and are like, “We’ve been to all the other bars in the BVI and we decided not to have a Painkiller until we got to Soggy Dollar.” We’re just so famous for this cocktail, you really have to try it here first. HOW DO MOST GUESTS SPEND A FEW HOURS AT THE SOGGY DOLLAR? Miller: The vibe is of course di«erent for di«erent people. But most people come in here just super happy and excited to be on vacation. They come with the intention to have a good time and have some good drinks. And we’re here to make that happen. People spend a lot of money to come to the BVI, and when I come to work, I come with all the good vibes to make sure they have the whole island experience. Some people sunbathe and swim on the beach, others play Jenga or the ring game. Some just come to relax at the bar and laugh and have a good time. HOW DOES IT FEEL TO HAVE TOURISM FINALLY BACK ON JOST VAN DYKE? Miller: All the locals are really happy and welcoming about it. We were home for more than a year and didn’t have tourists coming, we had a lot of government restrictions. I spent the time during the pandemic focusing on my photography and other things. Now it feels so good to be back, face to face and having conversations with people. And visitors are so excited to be back here, too. It’s a really great feeling. WHAT FOOD SHOULD ONE ABSOLUTELY TRY WHEN VISITING JOST VAN DYKE? Miller: There are definitely a few things you shouldn’t miss. At Soggy Dollar, we do a great Sunday barbecue as well as delicious rotis and jerk chicken sandwiches. You’ll never go wrong ordering conch fritters in the BVI. Seddy’s One Love Bar & Grill specializes in lobster. And Coco Loco’s Beach Bar on White Bay is the spot for great pizzas. Near Foxy’s on Great Harbor, the Tipsy Shark is a new spot right on the beach with a really nice menu of local dishes, too. You’ll never go wrong with the catch of the day on Jost. And don’t miss Pinky’s Delight on Great Harbor, too — a great little food truck where you can try coconut bread, Johnny Cakes and other local foods.
